Organization, activities & program

The Open Group Active Loss Prevention initiative focuses on projects and deliverables that bring early value. Three levels of participation are available:

• Participant.
• Project Sponsor.
• Initiative Sponsor.

Participation provides

• A minimum of 4 meetings in 2002, twice each in the US & Europe, learning from experts, reviewing work and setting direction.
• Involvement in projects and working groups, at the project meetings, at regional meetings, and by teleconferencing and email.
• Access to web based resources on all Active Loss Prevention work and information.
• First access to quality deliverables, including White papers, research reports, best practice guidelines, emerging standards and training and promotional materials.
• Access to Open Group conference proceedings and general member information.

Early contributors and sponsors will influence and determine the initial agenda, priorities and work plan.

The first milestone will be the publication of an Active Loss Prevention Discussion Paper, incorporating extensive market research, in May 2002. Around the third quarter of the year, a first version of a paper describing the risk terms involved in Internet enabled business, using normalized terms will be published. Other early work will be focused on the underlying trust services that are required to deliver on the promise of eBusiness. After identification of the issues and requirements work the second phase of work on Best Practices is expected to start towards the middle of 2002.
