How the Pass mark is calculated
The 130 questions for the examination are selected from a bank
of questions covering the syllabus. The pass rate is dependent on
the Angoff scores (difficulty rating) for the selected
set of questions. For this examination a typical pass score
is expected to be 69%.
How do I sign up to take the Exam?
To sign up you need to register yourself in the TOGAF web
certification system. Payment is required in advance.
You are first recommended to check that
there is a test center location that you can attend. For the
initial phase of TOGAF Certified by examination, the locations for test
centers are limited as follows (The Open Group is currently investigating
making the examination available worldwide through third party test
centers):

Please state your preference for location and date of attendance when
applying for certification in the web system. You are responsible for covering your own
expenses to attend a test center and for turning up at the allotted
timeslot. The TOGAF Certified fee (individual application) is payable in
advance and is non-refundable.
Applications to sit the examination have to be made at least 10 days in
advance of the examination in order to arrange logistics. Such
applications are made through the web certification system and require
advance payment at the time of booking.
What do I need to bring with me to take the Exam?
You will need to bring a form of picture ID to verify your identification (such as a passport or driving license).
You will also need your web id login and password assigned to you by
The Open Group web certification system, and the token provided by
the system for this sitting of the examination.
How much does it cost to take the Examination?
For the pilot phase the fee is the same as for an
individual becoming TOGAF Certified (USD 300). This may change in the future
when the examination is available from more test centers.
Can I refer to materials while i take the exam?
No its a closed book examination.
How long after taking the exam does it take to get the result?
You will be informed by electronic mail of your Pass or Fail result within six (6)
working days of taking the examination.
Can I find out my score?
No, the result from the certification authority is simply a Pass
or Fail.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes, once you have been notified of passing the examination you
will have an entry on the register with a certificate available
for download.
If I Fail how soon can I resit?
An individual who has failed an examination will not be allowed to retake the examination within 30 days of the first sitting. No candidate is allowed to take the same examination more than three (3) times in twelve (12) months.
Are there materials available to help prepare for the Exam?
Yes as well as the syllabus, The Open Group has a version of TOGAF 8.1 (publication G051) available for purchase,
and there are a number of third party organizations who offer training
