The Open Group Industrial Advanced Nuclear™ Consortium (IANC) has been hard at work since its launch in September 2025 and has published the Applications Scenarios Whitepaper that aggregates use cases of interest to the industrial end users of the Consortium. The Consortium is now open to End User, Nuclear Technology Suppliers, Engineering and Construction, and Support Organizations interested in shaping the future deployment of advanced nuclear technologies across industry.
The IANC has brought together leading industrial operators, EPCs, nuclear reactor suppliers, academia, and other key stakeholders to collaborate on the development of standards, operational requirements, and scalable delivery models for industrial nuclear applications.
As industries worldwide look to balance decarbonization, energy resilience, and long-term operational reliability, the IANC provides a collaborative forum for organizations seeking to play an active role in the future of advanced nuclear deployment.

The Open Group has officially launched the Industrial Advanced Nuclear™ Consortium (IANC), a collaborative initiative to accelerate the deployment of advanced nuclear heat and power solutions for industrial applications. The Consortium include Chevron, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Freeport-McMoRan, Nucor, Rio Tinto, and Shell represent large industrial users of power and heat. These Members will leverage their integration and project delivery expertise to define the requirements for the application of nuclear technology to provide process heat and power for their respective industries.
The primary objectives of the Consortium include:
• Developing a comprehensive Delivery model for nuclear integration for industrial using Standardization of interfaces and sourcing terminology
• Adopting risk-appropriate design practices
• Developing open frameworks and business guidelines
These efforts are designed to encourage competition, lower costs, reduce regulatory and scheduling risks, and ultimately deliver diversified, dependable, and low carbon heat and power solutions for industry.
