Security Forum Members Meeting

Objective of Meeting

The Security Forum Members Meeting at The Open Group Washington DC Event 3Q2022 aimed primarily to discuss the future of the Security Forum and its role within The Open Group.

Summary

The Members Meeting discussion centered around three (3) focus areas:

  1. Increasing participation by current Members of The Open Group, including Silver Members of the Security Forum, Gold and Platinum Members of The Open Group, and Silver Members of other Forums through collaboration projects and/or alternative participation options.
  2. Furthering content around Zero Trust and Zero Trust Architecture, including developing one or more certification programs for individuals and/or organizations and “promoting” the Zero Trust Core Principles White Paper and Zero Trust Commandments Guide to a Guide and a Standard, respectively.
  3. Participating in The Open Group Digital Portfolio initiative, first by continuing current plans to assist in revising/reworking the Governance, Risk, Security, and Compliance section and then by reviewing other security content in the Portfolio before determining how best Security Forum publications may be integrated or reworked to be included.

Outputs

Outputs included plans to participate in future events of The Open Group, multiple action items to formalize future projects and finalize currently proposed ones, and commitment from Members in attendance to participate in the initiatives discussed.

Next Steps

Forum Director John Linford will draft a Project Charter for review and approval by the Security Forum Steering Committee to create a portfolio of Security Forum publications that will allow easier collaboration with the Digital Portfolio initiative.

Security Forum Members in attendance will propose presentations for upcoming events of The Open Group.

The Security Forum Membership and Forum Director John Linford will work closely with The Open Group Business Development Team on outreach and engagement of current Members of The Open Group.
