Minutes from the June 20 2002 Teleconference Austin-115 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. June 20, 2002 Attendees ------------ Andrew Josey, Chair Matt Seitz Ben Harris Mark Ziegast Mark Brown, TOG OR Jack Mccann Nick Stoughton WG15 OR Don Cragun IEEE/PASC OR 2.2 XBD ERNs for discussion XBD ft http://www.opengroup.org/austin/docs/austin_107r1.txt ERN 15 OPEN (was Accept as marked ) topic: TZ changes and multithreading See mail sequence: 3994, this change no longer appears necessary since modifications to environ dealt elsewhere Accept as marked (for TC1): Add a SEE ALSO to the functions that modify the environment (setenv/putenv) pointing to exec() Add an APPLICATION USAGE usage to setenv()/putenv(): See exec for restrictions on changing the environment in multithreaded applications. ERN 24 OPEN (was Reject ) topic: change of flags arg to getnameinfo() from unsigned to int Change to Accept. The Open Group has put an interpretation on record against XNS5.2 recommending a change to int . Thought not to make an difference to applications. Recommend inclusion of the change into draft 2 of TC1. ERN 38 OPEN (was Accept as marked ) topic: wants options handling better documented Also see mail sequence: Leave as Accept as marked. Rework text to include recommendation noted below. The group has worked with the ISO editors and IEEE. So recent email does not follow about style not being acceptable. Accept in principle this would be a good idea but not felt a candidate for TC1 or an interpretation. It was agreed that to recommend consideration for this approach be taken in the next revision. 2.3 XSH ERNs for discussion XSH ft http://www.opengroup.org/austin/docs/austin_110r1.txt ERN 12 OPEN ( was Accept as marked , the first part will be included in TC1 ) topic: part 2 regarding constants for sysconf, pathconf etc As an implementor it is felt to be flexible , some felt that having actual constants could be harmful After much discussion a vote of the ORs was called. TOG: WG15: PASC: Agreed to accept the existing aardvark recommendations ERN 13 OPEN (AI 2002-5-06) topic: dlsym() interpretation Accept as marked. Take the Notes to the Editor section for TC1 Also add the additional note to RATIONALE in the TC1 following that above. Due to the problem noted here a future revision may either add a new function to return function pointers or the current interface may be deprecated in favor of two new functions , one that does data pointer retrieval and one that does function pointer retrieval. ERN 22 OPEN ( was Reject) topic: same issue as XBD ERN 24 DUP of XBD 24, so now Accept 2.4 XSH ERNs for discussion XCU ft http://www.opengroup.org/austin/docs/austin_108r1.txt ERN 1 OPEN (AI 2002-5-04) topic:cleaning up special built-ins page Accept as marked , as stated in the aardvark. ERN 11 OPEN (AI 2002-5-05) topic:iconv Accept as marked Action: AJ to update the aardvark. 3. Wrapup (5 minutes) TC1 Draft 2 is scheduled for early July, this will still be a committee draft. Agenda for next call 1.
