Austin Group Status Update Austin-12 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. January 15th, 1999 This is a brief status update after this weeks quarterly PASC meeting, held in New Orleans, Louisiana. The joint procedures group met again this week. The proposed procedures are now firming up and we expect to circulate those to this group by February 1st. There are also business issues that need to be agreed between TOG and IEEE and discussions are ongoing. It is believed that the output of the joint procedures group will be sufficient for the technical group to commence its work shortly. Current thoughts for meetings for 1999 are now as follows; up to four meetings this year. The first meeting is expected to occur March 2/3 just before Linux Expo (in the Bay area), with another meeting in July (at the joint PASC/TOG meeting in Montreal July 18-23). I will send out the call for the first meeting very shortly once I have confirmed with the host. This first meeting is expected to focus on generating the table of contents for the specifications, to make enough decisions so that a first draft would be produced for the July meeting. We expect to produce two drafts this year. Andrew Josey The Open Group
