Minutes of the 8th August 2024 Teleconference Austin-1421 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. 9th August 2024 Attendees: Don Cragun, IEEE SA OR Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 22 OR Andrew Josey, The Open Group Geoff Clare, The Open Group Ahmet Acar Andrew Rivera Eric Ackermann, CISPA Tom Thompson, IEEE Eric Blake, Red Hat, The Open Group OR (joined late) * General news A reminder that we have agreed there will be no Monday meetings for a while. Please note that the 22nd August call is setup to use a different webex bridge as Andrew is out on vacation. Andrew had circulated a draft response to the ISO editorial comments to the core team just before the meeting. Andrew talked in general terms about the comments, and that some were considered editorial so we would be able to consider in the next technical corrigendum, but apart from the frontmatter we would not be able to make any changes given that the document has been published by both IEEE and The Open Group. Perhaps it shows up a defect in the ISO process to leave comments to the very end, and perhaps a process such as the IEEE Mandatory Editorial Coordination should be considered to review and discuss style options. The style used is one that has been previously accepted by all three organizations, and is designed in particular for users of the standard, which includes the standards developers themselves, system implementors as well as application developers. For example elements such as future directions, change history and rationale are there for the users to support portable applications development. Action on all on the core mailing list to review the draft responses and feedback suggestions for change. We will discuss with Tom the IEEE PSDO process as a possibility for an alternative approvals path if the document gets rejected at this late stage by the ISO editors. * Current Business Bug 1845: Status of the thread-safety of exit is confusing OPEN https://www.austingroupbugs.net/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=1845 We will leave this item open for feedback on the proposal.
