Minutes of the 16th January 2025 Teleconference Austin-1442 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. 18th January 2025 Attendees: Don Cragun, IEEE SA OR Andrew Josey, The Open Group Geoff Clare, The Open Group Eric Ackermann, CISPA Eric Blake, Red Hat, The Open Group OR Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 22 OR We confirmed the calendar for upcoming meetings adding a meeting on January 30th. There is no change in status of progress with ISO approval although Andrew reported that he had held a call with IEEE regarding the PSDO path to ISO, and will hold further discussions on that matter. The PAR for the TC1 is scheduled for the Jan 29th IEEE RevCom meeting. Andrew and Don Cragun had attended MSC meeting held on January 14th. There were no items that would impact us. * Open Business Bug 1876: clarify, whether a trap action that is executed from a OPEN context where set -e is ignored, would have set -e ignored, too https://www.austingroupbugs.net/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=1876 Andrew took an action to ask shell developers to comment on this issue. (completed by sending an email to the reflector: austin-group-l:archive/latest/37925). * Current Business Bug 1894: Return value for bind_textdomain_codeset() is ambiguous https://www.austingroupbugs.net/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=1894 AI: Andrew to contact Bruno for input on this issue. (completed) Bruno responded with bugnote:7041. Accepted as marked, interpretation required, tc1-2024 tag. Bug 1900: cosmetic: implementors vs. implementers https://www.austingroupbugs.net/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=1900 OPEN Andrew had discussed with the IEEE editors. They would not want to change their template, although it is not clear if this rules out us changing this instance. We would prefer not to have to change the larger number of occurrences. Bug 1901: sigaction() incorrectly states (sig)longjmp are not in the list of async-signal-safe functions https://www.austingroupbugs.net/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=1901 Accepted as marked, resolved, tc1-2024 tag. On page 2046 line 67134 section sigaction(), change:
Note that longjmp() and siglongjmp() are not in the list of async-signal-safe functions. This is because the code executing after longjmp() and siglongjmp() can call any unsafe functions with the same danger as calling those unsafe functions directly from the signal handler. Applications that use longjmp() and siglongjmp() from within signal handlers require rigorous protection in order to be portable.to:
Note that although longjmp() and siglongjmp() are in the list of async-signal-safe functions, it is recommended that applications do not call them from signal handlers. See the DESCRIPTION and APPLICATION USAGE for [xref to longjmp()].Next Steps ---------- The next calls are on Thu 2025-01-23 (WEBEX meeting - general bugs) Thu 2025-01-30 (WEBEX meeting - general bugs) Apologies in Advance: Geoff Clare, 2025-01-30 Nick Stoughton 2025-02-06, 2025-02-13 The calls are for 90 minutes Calls are anchored on US time.
