Austin Group Minutes of the 21 June 2007 Teleconference Austin-369 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. Jun 22, 2007 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Don Cragun , Sun, PASC OR Larry Dwyer, HP Geoff Clare, The Open Group Apologies Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Ulrich Drepper, Red Hat Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC OR Action item review --------------------- ACTION AI-2005-01-01: Don Cragun to present paper on pathname resolution. OPEN ACTION 2007-02-06: Ulrich to research issue 15 and propose text for XSH intro to explain directory searching, with special respect to the *at() functions. OPEN (Geoff has posted some mail on this, come back to this when Ulrich has the cycles) Ulrich has also now posted some thoughts on this item. Status ------ Andrew reported draft 3 went out on time on June 15. We managed to start a recirculation , 45 day recirculation. The ISO ballot on merging to one part finishes today. Sally indicated that it was looking positive. We want to start a five month FCD ballot as soon as possible. This will mean that the September face to face will not include an ISO editing meeting, just an Austin Group meeting. Aardvark Bug Reports -------------------- Draft 3 issues to date: Some problems have been encountered in see also lines, where names are duplicated within the volume, so for example chgrp SEE ALSO , XSH chmod goes to XCU chmod and not XSH chmod(). This is as a result of the text merger to a single file for building. Andrew has been through the XCU volume and reported duplicate issues with incorrect pdf links to Cathy. We'd appreciate folks checking other sections of the document for any incorrect pdf links and reporting to Andrew directly. XCU ERN to be assigned OPEN This item is left open since although the approach is agreed the proposed wording changes needs improving. Larry had joined the call specifically to discuss the issue raised in austin-review-l mail sequence 2349, relating to XCU c99 and -lpthread. It was agreed that the approach to take is as follows Add to -lpthread Applications using this library shall also specify an additional getconf call to obtain the flags associated, if any, with reentrant programming Add a new variable for getconf, _POSIX_V7_REENTRANT_CFLAGS that should only be used if and only if you use -lpthread The exact edits need to be worked out. XSHbug2.txt XSH ERN 206 EMFILE Accept XSH ERN 142 sigemptyset Reject Reject, see section 2.4 , functions can set errno to additional values not defined by the standard and so lack of enumerations does not mean that errors are not possible. XSH ERN 144 EILSEQ errors Accept as marked below Instead of all going to may fail , make them all go to shall fail Update the following functions fprintf move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" fwprintf move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" wcrtomb move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" wcsrtombs move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" wcstombs move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" wctomb add an EILSEQ error case as a shall fail error fscanf move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" fwscanf move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" mbrlen move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" mbrtowc move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" mbsrtowcs move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" mbstowcs move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" mbtowc move the "may fail" EILSEQ error to become a "shall fail" The error text is [EILSEQ] An invalid wide-character code is detected. No action is necessary as this is being addressed in a D3R aardvark XSH ERN 193 readdir Accept as marked Move the text "Applications wishing to check for error situations should set errno to 0 before calling readdir(). If errno is set to non-zero on return, an error occurred." to before the text stating: The readdir( ) function need not be reentrant. A function that is not required to be reentrant is not required to be thread-safe.
