Minutes of the 26 June 2008 Teleconference Austin-433 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. June 27 , 2008 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Geoff Clare, The Open Group Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Don Cragun , Sun, PASC OR Roger Marquis Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC OR Ulrich Drepper, Red Hat * Draft Status Andrew has submitted the document for Open Group approval, targeting board approval at the late July meeting. Andrew has received the confirmation from IEEE staff liaison that we are go for submission for approval. Andrew has started the paperwork for IEEE approval. He has circulated the roster to the reflector for finalization. We believe that no patent paperwork is necessary as either the paper on file can be reference but also the two patents have expired. There has been some delay starting the ISO ballot. Apparently the ballot is in the queue. * Interpretations Status We picked up on the discussion on Austin interpretation 211, and think we should accept Dave's suggestion as the direction for the proposed resolution. We need to identify the proposed wording next. Action: Andrew ask Dave if he able to propose some words to resolve the interpretation request. * Aardvark XSH ERN 242 getgrouplist() new API Reject The mechanism for submitting a new api is through one of the three sponsoring organizations, see Austin 112r2 for more information on starting a new work item. It was noted that there has been some discussion on the reflector about this particular API and responses to the concerns raised should be included with any sponsor submission. XSH ERN 243 getnameinfo salen argument Accept Send down the interpretations track, the std is silent, concerns forwarded to the sponsor. (target for TC1R) XSH ERN 244 getnameinfo() nodelen argument Accept Send down the interpretations track, the std is wrong, concerns forwarded to the sponsor. (target for TC1R) A defect in XSH Draft 5.1R had been reported. @ page 1671 line 53680 section pthread_rwlock_destroy( ) editorial {jmaurer-1} Problem: syntax error in signature int pthread_rwlock_destroy(pthread_rwlock_t *rwlock, Action: fix the declaration to read: int pthread_rwlock_destroy(pthread_rwlock_t *rwlock); It was agreed that the editors should fix this as an editorial matter. Pass to Cathy. * Other discussions We discussed scanf and error handling. We decided it might be best to take this to the ISO C committee * Possible shading errors We noticed some possible shading errors. This is for errors that were previously XSI shaded. In moving the Base we had usually marked these as CX. It was now felt that some of these are mandatory in the ISO C standard, and vice-versa in some cases. Draft 5.1: fscanf page 934 line 31318 ENOMEM error should CX shaded EILSEQ error should not be CX shaded fprintf page 899 line 30008 EILSEQ should not be CX shaded fwscanf page 988 lines 33174, 33175 ENOEM should be CX shaded fwprintf page 978 line 32820-32821 ungetwc page 2115 EILSEQ should not be CX shaded The editors will consider whether these can be fixed up for publication or whether these have to wait until TC1.
