Minutes of the 8 March 2012 Teleconference Austin-551 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Mark Brown, IBM. 8 March, 2012 Attendees Jim Pugsley, Oracle Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC OR Don Cragun, PASC OR Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Geoff Clare, The Open Group Eric Blake, Red Hat Larry Dwyer, HP Apologies Andrew Josey, The Open Group * Old Business Bug 0000529: fildes unspecified on close()'s [EINTR] Re-OPENED http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=529 Based on feedback via the mailing list and from Larry Dwyer in person, Eric Blake has taken an action item to revise the proposed solution per the following guidelines: + close() will treat as "unspecified" which of the two behaviors currently at issue are supported in an implementation. + posix_close() will be created and support behaviors based on a flag. We will take this up at the next meeting. *New business Bug 0000545: Escape Filenames as per Uniform Resource Identifier Encoding http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=545 It was agreed to close this as a duplicate of Bug 0000251 since it was felt that (1) escaping is a poor solution and (2) we could deal with this as part of reesolving 251. Bug 0000537: for set -e, compound commands and functions case should be clarified Reject http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=537 This item was reopened by the originator. It was agreed to reject this item again. Without existing implementation practice, this group is unwilling to invent a new requirement. 0000530: Support in-place editing in sed (-iEXTENSION) http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=530 The committee agreed to reject this Bug. The idea has merit for the next version of POSIX, but the proposal needs to be enhanced before it can be acceptable. For ease of tracking, we are marking this bug closed; but we would be happy to consider a fully fleshed out proposal that meets the needs spelled out in Note 0001170. Next Steps ---------- The next call is on March 29 and will continue processing defect reports. This call will be for the regular 90 minutes. http://austingroupbugs.net See the calendar for the list of dialup numbers. An IRC channel will be available for the meeting irc://irc.freenode.org/austingroupbugs Andrew Josey will provide a calendar invitation at a later time.
