Eric took an action to update the proposal to resolve the overlaps appropriately. Bug 0000615: pthread_setcancelstate should be async-signal-safe OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=615 We now have reports on AIX and Apple. Jim to report back on whether pthread_cancelstate() is async-signal-safe on Solaris. Andrew to ask HP whether pthread_cancelstate() is async-signal-safe on HP-UX. Bug 622 left open pending resolution of 615. http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=622 Bug 0000672: Necessary step(s) to synchronize filename operations on disk OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=672 Geoff has a new proposed resolution in note 1618. Decided to solicit input from FS developers. Eric to go to Linux, Mark to AIX and Jim to Solaris. * Current Business See bug 592 for status on an update. Nick reported that he was working on actions for bugs 700 and 701 but that they are still in progress. Bug 0000696: either NAME_MAX shouldn't be optional, or readdir_r() needs clarification http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=696 OPEN This bug generated a lot of discussion, including discussion on when and if there would be a TC2-2008, as that would impact how to address the bug. We agreed that we would make readdir() thread safe except for concurrent calls with the same directory stream, and mark readdir_r() obsolescent for TC2-2008. Action: Don took an action to propose the wording. Bug 0000697: Adding of a getdirentries() function OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=697 We agreed that a function of this type would be a good addition to the standard. New interfaces require a sponsor, but it is possible that the Base Working Group might be willing to do that. It was felt that none of the three existing functions is a perfect fit for standardization; the favored approach would be to add a new function that has the best features chosen from the three. Action: Andrew to raise this matter with The Open Group Base Working group. Bug 0000693: Clarification on export status of make variables OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=693 Geoff proposed the following changes to be discussed at the next meeting: (in bugnote 1631) At page 2942 line 97319 after: Before the makefile(s) are read, all of the make utility command line macro definitions (except the MAKEFLAGS macro or the SHELL macro) shall be added to the environment of make. Other implementation-defined variables may also be added to the environment of make. add: Macros defined by the MAKEFLAGS environment variable and macros defined in the makefile(s) shall not be added to the environment of make if they are not already in its environment. With the exception of SHELL (see below), it is unspecified whether macros defined in these ways update the value of an environment variable that already exists in the environment of make. At page 2953 line 97788 change: The environment is the same as the environment to make except that MAKEFLAGS and macros defined on the make command line are added. to: The environment is the same as the environment to make except that MAKEFLAGS and macros defined on the make command line are added, and except that macros defined by the MAKEFLAGS environment variable and macros defined in the makefile(s) may update the value of an existing environment variable (other than SHELL). Next Steps ---------- The next call is on June 6 2013 (a Thursday) Calls are anchored on US time.
