UK ISO POSIX Report Austin-800 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. 4th February 2017 Report of IST5/-/15, Posix February 4, 2017 Recent work in POSIX standardization has focused on preparation of a second technical corrigendum to the 2009 edition of the standard. This was published by IEEE and The Open Group on September 30 2016. There was some discussion on how best to progress the document at ISO/IEC, whether to use PSDO agreement that IEEE has with ISO that allows for the TC document to go right to publication, after IEEE approval. Some SC22 members voiced concerns about the lack of a formal vote at ISO/IEC JTC1. As a result of this the ISO/IEC JTC 1 secretariat are progressing a formal vote which started in January 2017. Looking forward, the Austin Group is planning two revisions. The first revision which must complete before the end of 2018 (as the current standard will then be 10 years old) will be a rollup of the existing technical corrigendum and other technical corrigendum issues. The second revision is expected to complete in 2020 or 2021 and will contain new features and major changes.
