Capgemini Upgrades to Platinum Membership of The Open Group

Leading Provider of Consultancy, Technology and Outsourcing Services Reaffirms Commitment to The Open Group with Platinum membership

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 14th May, 2014 - The Open Group announced at its summit in Amsterdam today that Capgemini has upgraded its membership of the organization to Platinum, joining other IT industry leaders with this status such as HP, IBM, Philips and Oracle. Capgemini has been a member of The Open Group for many years, having previously been a platinum member between 2005 and 2012.

With the convergence of technologies from cloud computing to big data, end-user organizations are looking for guidance on how to take advantage of these tools within a rapidly changing market. The Open Group’s Open Platform 3.0™ Forum is a key venue for businesses like Capgemini to address the architectural issues and structural considerations associated with these technologies - a key reason for Capgemini upgrading its membership status. In addition Capgemini recognised that its new status would allow it to help shape the open standards that the technology industry increasingly demands.

As part of its Platinum membership, Capgemini will have a seat on The Open Group’s Governing Board, which will be filled by Lanny Cohen, Global Chief Technology Officer of Capgemini Group, with Ron Tolido, Chief Technology Officer, Application Services Continental Europe at Capgemini as his alternate. Capgemini will also boost its participation in a number of The Open Group Forums.

“We are very pleased to welcome back Capgemini as a Platinum Member of The Open Group,” said Allen Brown, President and CEO of The Open Group. “Capgemini’s contributions to all of our Forums and work groups has always been highly valued and now, rejoining our other platinum members they will be able to once again help guide The Open Group’s future direction.”

“Technologies are evolving quicker than ever and we believe open standards are crucial to organizations that are looking for Digital Transformation,” said Lanny Cohen, Global CTO at Capgemini. “Our customers need agility and to innovate, just as much as quality and manageability; we believe contributions to open standards for architecture, professional certification, security and the third platform will help them to find that. We are looking forward to active collaboration within The Open Group forums”.
