Bio: Dr. Justin Pearson is the A&D Sr. Director of Architecture and Business Growth for Wind River. Prior to his arrival at Wind River, Dr. Pearson worked as the Director of Systems Architecture for Lynx and before that, MTSI’s Aerospace Systems and Digital Engineering Lead, working directly with DoD customers for over a decade supporting software, architecture, airworthiness, cyber, MOSA, and systems engineering efforts. Dr. Pearson has been involved with all aspects of MOSA and Digital Transformation, spanning the successful development and fielding of PEO AVN’s first Open Systems Architecture to contributing to the development of ASA(ALT)’s dubbed “Gold Standard”, MOSA implementation guidance for the PEO AVN Enterprise. His transition to Wind River brings Dr. Pearson full circle with the enabling technologies that were so integral to realizing Army Aviation’s first OSA, identification of Aviation Mission Computing Environment (AMCE) requirements, and much more.
Dr. Pearson’s passion for A&D has been demonstrated both professionally and academically, having authored his dissertation and peer-reviewed articles on Addressing Cybersecurity and Safety Disconnects within Army Aviation. Dr. Pearson holds a B.S. and M.S. from UAH and a Doctorate in Information Technology with a Specialization in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Capella University. Dr. Pearson also maintains his CISSP, SEC+, and CEH.

Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?
For about 15+ years, I’ve worked within the A&D domain on multiple acquisitions in areas related to software engineering/airworthiness, cybersecurity, architecture, and systems engineering to include the fielding of Army Aviation’s first Open Systems Architecture (OSA), UH-60V.
Q. Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group SOSA Consortium and what does/will your involvement look like?
To help learn about and contribute to the vision of DoD MOSA vision through adoption of standards such as FACE® Consortium, SOSA® Consortium, VICTORY, +.. Working within various TWG and BWG subcommittees such as airworthiness, program manager support, etc.
Q. How has/will membership in The Open Group benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large?
Helps us maintain a close organizational relationship with the MOSA vision these standard bodies are contributing to, ensuring our solutions are in alignment.
Q. Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?
It is important to understand and contribute to the open standards relevant for the acquisition opportunities your respective company is interested or already vested in. It will help you speak a common language and ensure your proposed solution complies with relevant guidelines.
