Bio: A manager and business expert with over 35 years ICT market, Gabriele Obino is the General Manager Denodo Arabia Limited  and Denodo Vice President Southern Europe & Middle East. Gabriele’s focus is on helping customers on their Digital Transformation journey, delivering the expected value. Before joining Denodo, Gabriele launched Pegasystem in Italy, and previously worked for Business Object, Ascential Software and Informix working in multiple leadership roles. His experience covers a multitude of clients in the BFSI, Telecommunications, Government, Retail, Energy and Transportation. He holds a Mechanics Engineer Degree from University of Rome. He is a proud father of 2 daughters and 1 son.

Q. How long have you been involved with The Open Group?

We joined The Open Group earlier this year. It's a remarkable organization that supports the achievement of business objectives through technology standards and open source initiatives. What drew us in is its strong culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and mutual respect, all values that resonate deeply with us at Denodo.

Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?

I serve as the Regional Vice President for Southern Europe and the Middle East, and I am also the General Manager for Denodo Arabia Limited. I joined Denodo in 2018, and since then, the region has experienced exponential growth. We are especially proud to now have a legal entity established in Saudi Arabia, which reflects our long-term commitment to the Kingdom and the wider GCC.

Q. Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group Open Digital Transformation™ Forum and what does/will your involvement look like?

Through conversations with multiple partners and customers, we consistently heard about the impact of The Open Group in advancing Digital Standards. That sparked our interest to learn more, and after exploring the organization’s initiatives, we decided to join. We believe this collaboration will bring significant value by aligning our data virtualization solutions with industry-wide best practices and frameworks.

Q. How has/will membership in The Open Group benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large?

Membership has opened up new opportunities for engagement with peers, customers, and thought leaders. It helps us stay at the forefront of technological advancements while contributing to the evolution of open standards in areas like Data Architecture, AI, and Digital Transformation. It’s a win-win for us and for the broader industry ecosystem.

Q. Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?

To build a stronger, more unified technology community. The challenges we face today, whether in Digital Transformation, Data Governance, or AI adoption, require collective knowledge and collaboration. The Open Group provides a powerful platform to make that possible.

I enjoy playing tennis, staying active with various sports, and listening to music.
