  • Markus Resel | Founder & Managing Director, A-SIB FlexKapG

Bio: Markus Resel is the founder and managing director of A-SIB FlexKapG, an Austrian IT service provider built from the ground up and documented entirely in the ArchiMate® modeling language from day one. That practice gave rise to R+MUNI — his own AI-driven methodology combining multiple approaches into an accessible EA framework for the Austrian SME market.

    Membership Level: Silver

    Country: Austria

    Q. How long have you been involved with The Open Group?

A-SIB was structured and documented in ArchiMate® before the first client and before the first employee. Becoming a Silver Member in 2026 formalizes what has been central to our work from the start.

    Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?

I founded A-SIB FlexKapG and built it from zero — with ArchiMate as the modeling backbone throughout. That process led directly to R+MUNI: an AI-driven methodology tailored to the Austrian SME market, where the visual language of ArchiMate runs from the first pre-sales conversation through delivery and post-implementation. One consistent visual language, from first meeting to signed-off architecture.

    Q. Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group ArchiMate® Forum and what does/will your involvement look like?

ArchiMate is the language R+MUNI speaks. Membership in The Open Group ArchiMate Forum is a direct consequence: we want to be close to the community that stewards the standard we build on. Our contribution will focus on the entry-level SME perspective — organizations starting their EA journey, for whom R+MUNI provides a genuine first step and a scalable path toward larger standards alignment.

    Q. How has/will membership in The Open Group benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large?

For A-SIB, proximity to the ArchiMate community keeps R+MUNI grounded in a maintained international standard. For the industry, R+MUNI's AI-driven core and entry-level maturity concept offer a realistic path into EA for the majority of organizations worldwide — which are small, not large.

    Q. Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?

ArchiMate is strong because a community maintains and shapes it. The more diverse that community — in size, sector, and approach — the more relevant the standard becomes. The small Austrian SME provider, the entry-level EA user, the AI-driven methodology builder: those perspectives belong in the conversation.

    Q. What are your hobbies?

Sport shooting, hiking, trail riding and motocross, and wood carving.

    Q. What book are you currently reading?

Three at the moment: Homer's Odyssey, E.F. Schumacher's Small is Beautiful, and the regional history book of my home area.

    Q. What social networks do you belong to?

LinkedIn. Everything else has been deactivated — I find focused engagement more productive than broad social presence.

    Q. Any last thoughts?

We built A-SIB with ArchiMate. We practice R+MUNI with ArchiMate. We will scale with ArchiMate. It is not a tool — it is the language in which we think about organizations. Being part of The Open Group community means being close to the people shaping that language's future.
