    Q. How long have you been involved with The Open Group?

We just joined July 2024. Our customers have been trending toward open standards for years, and GIRD has been working as partners with members of the SOSA Consortium. We decided to join in our own right and start integrating these standards more holistically into our products.

    Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?  GIRD is a communications and signal processing company. We are experts at exploiting the spectrum to do clever things – avoid interference, maximize throughput, and a host of other customer-specific objectives. We also design radio hardware and have significant direction-finding experience. If it’s a signal processing or communications problem, we’re the right folks to talk to.

    Q. Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group SOSA™ Consortium and what does/will your involvement look like?

GIRD is familiar with many of the standards within the SOSA Consortium, but many of our customers are requiring SOSA standard compliance, so we joined to get the latest version of the standards and learn about trends for upcoming standards.

    Q. How has/will membership in The Open Group benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large? We anticipate membership will be an enabler for GIRD to participate in new business opportunities and to support a larger number of prime contractors on programs of record.

    Q. Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?

The trend towards open standards is here to stay – join now while you can get ahead of the curve. Getting behind in any market trend is risky.

    Q. What are your hobbies? Gardening with horticulturalist leanings

    Q. What book are you currently reading?

The Red Door by Charles Todd. Incredible historical fiction series that describes the aftermath of World War I in Europe.

    Q. What social networks do you belong to?

LinkedIn and nothing else – not a big fan of living on social media.
