The Open Group Architecture Forum meeting held in Newport Beach consisted of a full day face-to-face meeting on Thursday January 31, 2013. During the week commencing January 27, a number of Working Groups and Standing Committees also met (minutes from those meetings are available in the Architecture Forum members' site under the Meeting Minutes category.)
The January 31 meeting was held in conjunction with The Open Group Newport Beach Conference and Members' Meetings. There were 18 voting members present.
Dave Hornford, the Forum Chair, gave an update on the status of how the Forum Strategy is being actioned. This shows the areas of activity, together with trend indicators – with increased activity across all target areas: TOGAF®, Membership, Extended Focus, and the EA Profession.
The status of ongoing Forum activities was reviewed using the Governance Scorecard. It was agreed that the Forum will commence a conversation to review the Forum Strategy and hold a series of teleconferences to facilitate that. It was agreed that a Forum ecosystem report be created and that it and the TOGAF ecosystem report be added to the standing agenda. It was agreed to close down the TOGAF for SMEs project due to lack of visible progress; it was also agreed that the Value Realization project may terminate its activities as requested previously. It was agreed that the Certification Standing Committee can continue the investigation of TOGAF skills and experience-based certification. It was agreed that the Information Architecture project should produce a revised charter to describe its next proposed deliverables.
The meeting included a report on the Harmonization project which is a joint activity with the ArchiMate® Forum. They have identified a number of key areas for work and expect to produce a project plan in the next quarter.
The meeting also included a number of informational updates on the Standing Committees and Projects that had met during the conference and not reported in other slots.

The Forum is scheduled to next meet in Sydney, Australia during the week commencing April 15, 2013. The meeting in Sydney will be an outreach meeting with briefings on the work in progress. Logistics for the meeting will be available in the Architecture Forum calendar.
