San Diego 2018: Proceedings - IT4IT Forum

IT4IT™ Forum

January 30 – February 1, 2018

Objective of Meeting

The IT4IT Forum held three days of member meetings and attended one afternoon of IT4IT track sessions. The objectives of the face-to-face member meetings were to advance the content coming from the Forum Work Groups in collaborative working sessions.

IT4IT Forum active Work Groups that met include Vertical Service Model, Governance, Risk, & Compliance, Interoperability & Tool Certification. The active Work Groups that did not host sessions were: Intelligence & Reporting, Business Value of IT4IT, and Strategy to Portfolio which expect to report out at the upcoming London event. There was no meeting of the Governance Work Groups such as Steering and Core.

The Forum also held a joint meeting with the Architecture and ArchiMate® Forums to advance the content coming from the Forums Harmonization Work Group (TOGAF-IT4IT-ArchiMate).

The Forum leaders hosted the quarterly State of the IT4IT Forum report, the annual Retrospective (2017) session, and the annual Strategic Plan (2018) session. The Adoption and Product Lifecycle Management Work Group members agreed to donate their designated time on Thursday to allow the continuation of the important IT4IT Forum 2018 Strategic Plan workshop, as these two Work Groups’ activities are dependent on the outcome.

Outputs

All Work Groups took productive feedback from members, and advanced their content and concluded with clear “next steps” and actions for the upcoming quarter.

Next Steps

2018 Strategy and Planning process will move to the next steps of sending all members consent items for ranking the proposed Epics for 2018. Then those results will provide the direction needed to update the IT4IT Roadmap and re-align the existing Work Groups or start new Work Groups.

The Vertical Service Model Work Group plans to use the inputs from members at these meetings to edit and complete its three White Papers and update its appendix of proposed changes to the standard in readiness for entering the documents into The Open Group White Paper Review process.

The Supporting Activities: Governance, Risk, & Compliance Work Group plans to use the inputs from members at these meetings to update its White Paper and appendix of proposed change to the standard for further review by Work Group members. It will also follow the recommendation to stay connected to the new IT4IT Forum Strategy to Portfolio Work Group to harmonize related content between the two groups.

The Interoperability and Tool Certification Work Group will use the feedback provided by members at these meetings to complete the first scenario in the IT4IT Detect to Correct value stream as a template and find a way to attract other members or interested parties in completing scenarios for the other IT4IT value streams to advance the Level 3 content development that will later support a possible IT4IT Tool Certification Program.

The Open Group featured the Digital Practitioners Body of Knowledge in a special event on Wednesday and more IT4IT Forum members will now start attending the DP BoK Work Group bi-weekly meetings for Harmonization opportunities.

Members saw new opportunities to benefit from harmonizing elements of the IT4IT standard with The Open Group Open Process Automation and Open Platform 3.0 Bodies of Knowledge and meetings will be arranged to plan for opportunities at the London (Q2) and Houston (Q3) quarterly events.

Several IT4IT Forum Work Groups will host sessions at the London Open Group event April 16-19, 2018.

The Adoption Work Group and the IT4IT Forum Steering Committee are hosting the 2nd IT Management Professionals Day at The Open Group event in London on April 18, 2018.

Weekly virtual meetings for the Forum Work Groups will continue to advance the IT4IT Body of Knowledge and the production of additional guidance materials.
