Special Pre-Conference Tutorial:  An Introduction to TOGAF
Sunday 16th July 2006

Overview

The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) is a comprehensive framework and methodology which enables the design, evaluation and implementation of the right IT Architecture for an Enterprise.

TOGAF Enterprise Edition has been evolved within The Open Group’s Architecture Forum over a period of ten years. Its development has been guided by and based on the knowledge and experience of Open Group members who are practising IT Architects working for a wide range of enterprises throughout the world.

This tutorial describes what the Architecture Forum has achieved so far in the development of TOGAF, and shows how the Forum is responding to new challenges.

The tutorial answers the questions: What are the origins of TOGAF? What principles have been adopted in developing TOGAF? Of what does TOGAF consist? What is the TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM)? In what other ways is the Architecture Forum supporting IT Architecture? What are the plans for the future?
