Downloading the Beta Version of the Open FAIR™ Risk Analysis Tool

The Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool can be used to perform a quantitative Open FAIR risk analysis as defined in The Open Group Risk Analysis (O-RA) and Risk Taxonomy (O-RT) standards. It is provided in the form of a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet.

The Beta version of the Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool is available to all to download free-of-charge for non-commercial use. That will usually mean using it inside your organization. To use the Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool for commercial purposes, a Commercial License will be made available with version 1.0 of the tool.

The function of the Open FAIR™ Risk Analysis Tool is to perform a quantitative Open FAIR risk analysis as defined in The Open Group Risk Analysis (O-RA) and Risk Taxonomy (O-RT) standards. It is provided in the form of a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet.

You may download the Beta version of the Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool under a free, personal, 90-day Evaluation License; and you may then go on to use version 1.0 of the tool when available, internally under a free, perpetual, Corporate License or a free, perpetual, Academic License, if you wish. Alternatively, you may take out an annual Commercial License.

How to Apply for an Evaluation License of the Beta Version of the Tool

The download procedure:

  1. Ensure you are logged in.
  2. Select the appropriate link(s).
  3. Review and accept the licensing conditions which will appear in a popup window.

If you download this document, you are presumed to have read and accepted the Evaluation Licensing Conditions. There is no need to complete and submit the license.

1.   LICENSE

The Open Group grants you ("the Licensee") a non-exclusive license to use the Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool Beta version ("the Tool") free-of-charge for 90 days, provided that:

  • The Licensee is an employee of an organization that is a member of The Open Group Security Forum OR the Licensee is an employee of an organization that is using The Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool entirely for internal purposes (for example, to analyze internal projects within that organization), OR the Licensee is an individual using the Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool entirely for personal, academic, and non-commercial purposes;
  • All existing trademarks and copyright notices are retained in all copies of the Tool and its associated documentation; and
  • All existing trademarks and copyright notices and this License notice appear in all supporting documentation.

2.   REDISTRIBUTION IS NOT PERMITTED

The Licensee may use the Tool subject to the following limitation:

  • Redistribution of the Tool, in part or in whole, is not permitted.

If you want other members of your organization to use or evaluate the Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool, please encourage them to register and retrieve the documentation via the link at: http://www.opengroup.org/library/i181.

3.   AFTER THE 90-DAY EVALUATION PERIOD

After expiry of the 90-day evaluation period you will need to apply for an Open FAIR Risk Analysis Tool Non-Commercial License [1] or Commercial License according to your intended use, or else remove the Tool from your system.

This Tool is provided on an "AS IS" basis, without warranty of any kind. If you are using the Tool free-of-charge, you are not entitled to support or telephone assistance from The Open Group.
