  • All the sessions on Thursday 31st January and Friday 1st February, including Enterprise Information Architecture, UDEF Semantic Interoperability Challenge, The UDEF Registry, The UDEF Document Set, Information Architecture for SOA, and Semantic Interoperability Working Group Planning.

The Semantic Interoperability Agenda

Tuesday January 29, 2008
09:00- 12:00 The UDEF in Depth
UDEF Project Chair Ron Schuldt will present an in-depth training module on how to use the UDEF.
Wednesday January 30, 2008
11:00- 12:30 Semantics for Enterprise Architecture Workshop
The move to Service-oriented architecture is putting the need for semantic interoperability into sharp focus. Loosely-coupled services can enable Boundaryless Information Flow™ - provided each service can interpret the information produced by others. Within a single traditional application there is a uniform interpretation of information. There has always been a problem when traditional applications exchange information, and SOA brings a big increase in information exchanges. Ad-hoc programming in each service is not a cost-effective solution. Semantic processing will in future be handled by middleware. The workshop explores how this can be achieved, to deliver greater effectiveness for SOA.
13:30- 15:30 Conference Stream: Semantics for SOA
This stream is about the integration of Semantics and SOA, and about how a semantic approach can be a very effective way to realise a Service-Oriented Architecture.
16:00- 17:30 Conference Stream: Information Architecture
This stream focuses on the information aspects of enterprise architecture. Enterprise architecture has always included the architecture of infomation, as well as the architecture of systems that process information, and this is just as true for SOA as for traditional architecture styles.
Thursday January 31, 2007
09:00 -10:30 Enterprise Information Architecture
Discussion of the information architecture component of enterprise architecture, building on the Workshop and Conference Streams of Wednesday 30th.
11:00 -12:30 UDEF Semantic Interoperability Challenge
Discussion of a Challenge to product vendors to demonstrate semantic interoperability using the UDEF.
14:00 -15:30 The UDEF Registry
Discussion of architecture and standards for the UDEF Global Registry - including a "registry switching" mechanism.
16:00 -17:30 The UDEF Document Set
Discussion of the set of specifications that should be produced to support the UDEF.
Friday February 1, 2008
09:00 -10:30 Information Architecture for SOA
This is a joint session with the SOA Working Group. It will work towards the definition of an information reference architecture that can be used in the context of SOA.
11:00 -12:30 Semantic Interoperability Working Group Planning
This session will review developments over the conference, and make forward plans.
14:00 -17:30 Further working group discussions and project sessions may be arranged. Watch this space!
