SOA Open Meetings

SOA is one of the key themes of the conference. The following sessions are open to all conference delegates.

  • The conference streams Business-Driven SOA and SOA and TOGAF on Monday April 21;
  • The SOA Working Group Open Meeting and SOA for Enterprise Architecture Workshop on Tuesday April 22;
  • The SOA Case Studies and Semantics for SOA conference streams on Tuesday April 22; and
  • The Conference Plenary Leveraging SOA in Enterprise Architecture, and the Conference Streams SOA and Enterprise Architecture and SOA Governance on Wednesday April 23.

SOA Members-Only Meetings

The SOA Working Group is meeting during the conference to progress its work program. The following sessions are for SOA Working Group members and invited guests only.

  • The sessions on Information Architecture for SOA on Saturday 19th April, Sunday 20th April, and the morning of Monday 21st April;
  • All the sessions on Thursday 24th April.

The SOA Agenda

Saturday-Sunday April 19-20, 2008
09:00- 17:30 Information Architecture for SOA
A concentrated meeting to develop an understanding of the information components of enterprise architecture that are required for SOA. This work is a joint activity of the SOA Working Group and the Semantic Interoperability Working Group. Its results will be incorporated in the SOA/TOGAF Practical Guide.
Monday April 21, 2008
09:00- 12:00 Information Architecture for SOA
This session will review and build on the results of the meetings of April 19-20.
13:30- 15:30 Conference Stream: Business-Driven SOA
16:00- 17:30 Conference Stream: SOA and TOGAF
Tuesday April 22, 2008
09:00- 10:00 The SOA Working Group
This session, led by SOA Working Group Co-Chair Tony Carrato of IBM, is open to all conference attendees. It will include:
  • Welcome and Introductions
  • Current state and future directions of SOA
  • Role and work program of The Open Group's SOA Working Group
10:00- 12:00 SOA and Enterprise Architecture Workshop
This workshop will explore the development and deployment of enterprise service-oriented architectures, based on ideas developed by the SOA Working Group. It is open to all conference attendees.
13:30- 15:30 Conference Stream: SOA Case Studies
16:00- 17:30 Conference Stream: Semantics for SOA
Wednesday April 23, 2008
09:00- 12:30 Conference Plenary: Leveraging SOA in Enterprise Architecture
The Wednesday conference plenary will focus on SOA and its use as a style of enterprise architecture. It will feature high-level presentations from analysts, customers, and industry experts.
13:30- 15:30 Conference Stream: SOA and Enterprise Architecture
16:00- 17:30 Conference Stream: SOA Governance
Thursday April 24, 2007
09:00 -10:30 SOA/TOGAF Practical Guide
This session will pursue the work of the SOA Working Group project that is developing a practical guide to the use of TOGAF for SOA.
11:00 -12:30 SOA Reference Architecture
This session will pursue the work of the SOA Reference Architecture Project.
14:00 -15:30 SOA and Security
This session is a joint meeting with The Open Group's Security Forum to pursue the work ofthe SOA and Security project
16:00 -16:45 SOA: The Book
The Open Group is producing a book that will extend The Open Group Architecture Framework to SOA. The book will build on the work of the SOA Working Group, and reference the outputs of the Working Group projects, including the Reference Architecture and the Practical Guide. This session will review the initial draft of the book.
16:45 -17:30 Practical Demonstration of SOA
This session will work on the development of a practical demonstration of SOA, to be given by the Working Group at the Chicago conference in July.
