Where can I obtain information on The Open Group Test Suites and Test Services?Information on The Open Group test suites and services is available here on the World Wide Web. Test suites can be obtained from The Open Group directly, with the test suites, support and upgrades being available electronically via the internet. Q2. Why is testing and certification important?Testing and certification play an essential part in ensuring the proper development and maintenance of quality standards-based products, ensuring conformance to industry standard APIs and interoperability specifications. The Open Group's cumulative investment is almost $20M. Through these test suites, The Open Group helps you to create the interoperable and portable products that protect the buyer investment in heritage systems while maximizing investment in the future. Q3. What are the recent test developments?
Q4. Are there any freely available test tools?Yes, The Open Group has a set of freely available test suites and test tools that are available in source code. These are available form the downloads section of this web site. Some of these are being used to support various Open Source testing activities. Q5. How do I get an upgraded version of an The Open Group test suite?Upgrades are available via ftp for customers with support contracts. Q6. If a new release of an The Open Group test suite comes out, do I have to stop using the old release immediately ?No, there is a six month overlap period in which Brand applications based on either the new release or the previous current release will be accepted. This is the case whether the test suite is provided direct from The Open Group or through a third party distributor. Q7. Where can I obtain support on the use of The Open Group test suites?Support for The Open Group suites, such as error reporting and information about waivers can be obtained direct from The Open Group or if you obtained the test suite from a distributor from them.
