Business Scenario: Open Platform 3.0™ – Next Steps

The Open Platform 3.0 Forum has been established to help enterprises to use cloud, social, and mobile computing, and big data, by identifying a set of new platform capabilities, and architecting and standardizing an IT platform by which enterprises can reap their business benefits. This will advance The Open Group vision of Boundaryless Information Flow.

This Business Scenario describes the business and technical environment for the platform, and states a set of requirements that the platform should satisfy.

The Open Platform 3.0 Forum will take these requirements as the basis for the creation of the platform architecture. The next step will be the definition by the Forum of an initial version of that architecture, and the identification of an initial set of standards for the platform. These will be published as a Snapshot of Open Platform 3.0. As discussed under Timescale, the aim is to do this early in 2014.

Where standards that are identified do not yet exist, the Forum will promote their creation by the appropriate standards bodies.

The Forum will further discuss and develop the Snapshot, with the aim of producing Version 1 of the Open Platform 3.0 Technical Standard early in 2015.
