The Open Group and IEEE certify POSIX® systems through the POSIX®: Certified by IEEE and The Open Group certification program. Conformance to the POSIX standard is measured through a family of test suites.

The test framework architecture utilizes the Open Group's Test Environment Toolkit and the VSXgen framework. A summary of the test suite architecture , is shown below:
