IBM Risk and Compliance Expert Joins Jericho Forum® Board of Management

New Board Member to Advance Jericho Forum’s Vision for Secure Collaboration in the Cloud

SAN FRANCISCO and LONDON, 27 May, 2010 – Jericho Forum, the leading international IT security thought-leadership association, today announced the results of its recent Board of Management elections. Darren Argyle, certified information security professional (CISSP, CISM) and security services business leader at IBM Security Services, has been elected to join the board. Mr Argyle has been an active member within the Jericho Forum for the last 5 years contributing to the Forum’s goal of promoting confidence and operational efficiency for businesses operating in de-perimeterized environments, including the cloud.

“Since its inception, the Jericho Forum has always emphasized the need for technology vendors and users to work together effectively and securely. At IBM we have long recognized that such a collaborative approach is essential – especially for gaining the most value from cloud-based technologies,” said Mr Argyle. “At the same time, the new risks associated with cloud infrastructures require proper security processes to be in place, supported by an industry-tested, best practice approach. Key Jericho Forum initiatives such as the Self Assessment Scheme program are geared to promoting such an approach, which is one of the many reasons why I’m pleased to join the board of management and support what I consider to be ground-breaking work.”

With over 15 years’ experience in the information security industry, Mr. Argyle is a member of many other leading independent information security associations, including ISC2, ISACA and IISP, and represents IBM on both global and UK external security forums, including the Information Security Forum and Centre for the Protection National Infrastructure. He has held a variety of security roles, both as a hands-on practitioner and senior leader, primarily focused on managing risk and compliance in complex multi vendor outsourced environments.

Jericho Forum Board membership lasts for a period of three years and election is conducted on a one vote per member-organization basis. Steve Whitlock, chief security strategist at Boeing and a founding Board member, has also been re-elected. Other board members are John Arnold, chief security architect, Capgemini; Philippe Courtot, CEO, Qualys; John Meakin, director of digital security and chief information security officer, BP; Paul Simmonds, global IS integrated assurance director, AstraZeneca; Andrew Yeomans, vice president global information security, Commerzbank. About Jericho Forum

Founded in 2004, the Jericho Forum is an international group of thought leaders from the user and vendor community focused on assuring secure information flow between partners, customers and mobile workers in today's digital era. Corporate perimeters are now recognized as porous - caused by a trend called de-perimeterization (a term popularized by Jericho Forum) – so traditional perimeter and network security mechanisms do not protect business transactions and other collaborations between business partners who need to share data. The Jericho Forum addresses the security challenges posed by business demands to collaborate externally and the additional pressures placed by the move to cloud computing, by architecting practical solutions focused on protecting applications, services, and data.
