Sharul A.Rashid is Head, Technical Excellence and currently PETRONAS Group Technical Authority and Custodian Engineer, Instrument and Control. He is the President of International Society of Automation (ISA), Malaysia Section. He is Vice-Chair IOGP IASSC (Instrument Automation Standards Subcommittee), Vice-Chair Digital Connected Society (Malaysia). He recently had joined as End-User Board Member ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute. Additionally, he is voting member for NSC 19 / TC 15 for Smart Manufacturing.
Sharul has more than 30 years of experience in handling instrumentation and control issues in oil & gas, gas liquefaction and petrochemical plant including pipeline transmission network. Sharul advises not only within his Group Technical Solution but also plant PETRONAS-wide on instrumentation and control issues. He involved as an instrumentation expert in many key PETRONAS projects e.g. Kertih Compressor Station, Peninsular Gas Utilization metering stations and MLNG Satu Rejuvenation and MLNG Dua Debottlenecking.
Sharul has been sharing globally* of his valuable accumulated PETRONAS experience in IIOT & Digitalization, Cyber Security, Asset Management Excellence and Process Safety Compliance that cover smart predictive methodology (e.g. Early Warning System and wireless sensors), plant automation (e.g. Offsite Automation System Rejuvenation). *Note: Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, UAE, Oman, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Netherland, German, Turki, USA and all the way to Russia , Tatarstan and Kazakhstan.
He is TUV certified Functional Safety Engineer since 2011. He is certified OT Cyber Security “Expert” Level ISA IEC 62443 since June 2020.
He contributed to core competency program for PETRONAS Skill Group Instrument & Control which was accredited by United Kingdom Institute of Measurement and Control, Accelerated Competency Development & intensified coaching for Technical Professionals, instrument engineers, Technical Trade Specialist (TTS) & technicians. He shared his personal Journey with TTS Groups at PETRONAS Leadership Centre (PLC) as part of the Leader-Develop-Leader (LDL) program.
Prior to joining PETRONAS, Sharul worked at MOTOROLA Semiconductor in USA.
Sharul graduated with honors in Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Miami, Florida. He pursued Master in Engineering in University of Florida, Gainesville, USA .
