The Open Group Launches the IT4IT™ Certification Program

London, UK – April 25, 2016: The Open Group, the vendor-neutral IT consortium, has announced the availability of its IT4IT™ Certification Program. From today, IT4IT Foundation Certification is available to individuals who demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.0 standard.

The Open Group IT4IT™ Reference Architecture standard comprises a reference architecture and a value chain-based operating model for managing the business of IT.

“We expect IT4IT Certification to become a valuable credential for all IT professionals working with the IT4IT Reference Architecture,” commented Andrew Josey, VP, Standards and Certification at The Open Group. “The IT4IT Forum was launched in London in October 2014, so it is fitting that the IT4IT Certification Program should be unveiled at The Open Group London 2016 event...”

The first level of certification being launched, known as IT4IT Foundation, provides validation that the Candidate has gained knowledge of the terminology, structure, basic concepts, and understands the core principles of the IT4IT Reference Architecture and the IT Value Chain. IT4IT Foundation certification can be achieved by passing the IT4IT Part 1 examination, following a course of self-study or attendance at an Accredited Training Course. The program configuration for the IT4IT Certification Program can be found here. The requirements for IT4IT Foundation certification and the syllabus for all accredited courses can be found here.

The launch of the certification program comes after the release of the IT4IT Management Guide earlier this year, which is available to buy through The Open Group website and Van Haren Publishing

The development of the IT4IT Certification Program has been supported by a number of key sponsors:

“Enterprise Architects has strongly advocated applying an architectural approach in the 'design of business' for many years. The release of the IT4IT framework will now provide IT organizations with a structured, flexible and standardized Reference Architecture for the design of the ‘business of IT’.

“With the IT4IT framework, Enterprise Architects can provide organizations with a design led approach that will help industrialize and make mainstream IT operations more efficient, thus enabling businesses to place a greater focus on innovation, providing service-centric solutions and adopting multi-sourcing strategies to their IT environment. We have seen this approach proven amongst our global clients in designing new Operating Models for IT to address the common challenges confronting organizations in their transition to blended internal, cloud and outsourced service models.

“With the launch of the IT4IT Certification Program we look forward to engaging further with the market on how this approach can deliver significant value to organizations.”

Danny Graham, Learning Services Manager, Enterprise Architects

“As digital transformation accelerates, so the need increases for a unified IT operating model based upon a truly open and standard platform. APG is proud to support the IT4IT standard as the next-generation vision for digital value in the enterprise via our contributions to the IT4IT framework and other Open Group standards.”

Chris Armstrong, President, Armstrong Process Group, Inc.

“Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is fully committed to being the premier training provider for the IT4IT Standard as demonstrated by our continued commitment to the development and roll out of the IT4IT Reference Architecture Standard. As one of the lead organizations responsible for the development of the standard, HPE is also one of the first to provide accredited education and certification.”
