The Open Group has transitioned its Open Professions program to stepwise milestone evaluation, thereby making applications for certification simpler for you to complete. Applications for milestones and milestone certification can now be submitted. Register here. If you are in the process of applying for certification using the existing path, and you informed us of your intention no later than September 1, 2020 and registered and paid, you may continue in order to be accepted and scheduled for a peer review board. After January 10, 2021, only applications using the stepwise format will be accepted. (*)
See below for an overview of the stepwise milestone-based certification.
A STEPWISE PATH TO CERTIFICATION
Certification is awarded through experience-based profile assessments by recognized industry experts, within their appropriate field, so no examination is required. Certification is broken down into three stages – to allow you to manage your certification at a pace that is most suitable to you and to allow you to show evidence for your expertise more quickly.
Step One - Obtain 4-5 Milestone Badges (four for Levels 1 & 3, five for Level 2). Candidates submit separate Milestone Application Forms, which are then evaluated independently. After earning all the required Milestone Badges, proceed to Step Two.
Step Two - Complete the Experience Application Form to apply for certification
Step Three - Attend the peer review board
PROGRESS THROUGH CERTIFICATION AT THREE LEVELS
- Master Certified
Individuals who have certified through the single-package approach will be able to re-certify by earning two badges - a Professional Development badge and an Experience Profile Milestone Badge.
