How long have you been involved with The Open Group SOSA™ Consortium? Since 2017
What do you do, and how long have you been doing it? I have been with Gore for 13 years as a wire and cable design engineer establishing fitness for use for high Performance wiring products based on the intended use.
Why did your organization become a Member of The Open Group SOSA Consortium and what does/will your involvement look like? Gore has consistently provided input and leadership to the Electro-Mechanical subcommittee. We joined SOSA in 2017, in order to provide guidance around interconnect design that often goes as an afterthought.
How has/will membership in The Open Group SOSA Consortium benefit you, your organization, and the industry at large? It provides a neutral venue for industry partners and competitors to discuss and settle conflicts between various approaches to design choices.
What contributions do you hope to bring to The Open Group SOSA Consortium? Since SOSA can be and often does, describe a “system of systems” ,the interconnects are virtually the nervous system and life blood enabling the parts to function as a whole. The choices established in the standard have profound repercussions on the overall functionality, performance, weight and cost.
