The Open Group Announces ArchiMate® 2.0 Foundation Certification Now on Prometric’s Global Internet-Based Testing Network

New Certification Furthers Knowledge of Open, Independent Modeling Language for Enterprise Architecture

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 26, 2013 - The Open Group today announced that a new ArchiMate 2.0 Foundation certification exam is available through accredited training organizations and also at Prometric test centers around the world.

“The ArchiMate 2.0 Foundation certification will help professionals demonstrate their understanding of the basic concepts and key terminology of Enterprise Architecture and the ArchiMate modeling language,” said Henry Franken, Chief Executive Officer of BiZZdesign and Chair of The Open Group’s ArchiMate Forum. “The language provides complete standards for Enterprise Architecture, both from a process and a language perspective, and certification can only help to make the discipline more effective going forward.”

The ArchiMate 2.0 certification exam focuses on validation that the Candidate has gained knowledge of the notation, terminology, structure, and concepts of the ArchiMate modeling language. The learning objectives at this level focus on knowledge and comprehension. The 60-minute exam is based on the same format as the TOGAF® 9 Foundation exam, which has been completed by more than 6,300 people since 2009.

“Prometric provides The Open Group with expansive testing solutions to deliver its ArchiMate 2.0 Foundation certification program in more than 160 countries,” said Charles Kernan, Prometric’s Chief Operating Officer. “Testing candidates can expect a fair, convenient, secure and reliable testing experience every time, and we look forward to helping The Open Group grow its ArchiMate program in the coming years.”

ArchiMate 2.0, a standard created by the ArchiMate Forum of The Open Group, is an open and independent modeling language for Enterprise Architecture that is supported by different tool vendors and consulting firms. ArchiMate 2.0 improves collaboration through clearer understanding across multiple functions, including business executives, enterprise architects, systems analysts, software engineers, business process consultants and infrastructure engineers.

Introduced in January 2012, the ArchiMate 2.0 certification program has already certified more than 500 professionals through nine accredited courses from training providers based in Australia, the Netherlands, South Africa, Sweden, The United Kingdom and The United States. The ArchiMate 2.0 Foundation certification is meant to validate candidates’ gained knowledge of the notation, terminology, structure and concepts of the ArchiMate modeling language.

“The ArchiMate 2.0 Foundation certification will enable Enterprise Architects to further improve business and IT alignment by applying the industry’s standard modeling language,” said Raina Wissing, Director of The Open Group ArchiMate Forum. “With a solid foundational understanding of ArchiMate, individuals and their organizations will be better prepared to manage business change.”
