    Q: How long have you been involved with The Open Group?

    I am new to The Open Group.  BMC Software, Inc, became a member of The Open Group IT4IT™ Forum in July 2016.

    Q. What do you do, and how long have you been doing it?

    I am the CTO and lead for Digital Enterprise Management at BMC,leading value based integration design of our solution to support customer digital initiatives and use cases. I started this role since 2012.

    Q: Why did your organization become a member of the IT4IT™ Forum and what does your involvement look like? 

    BMC is considering IT4IT™ as very solid platform to best collaborate with customers, partners and other vendors and contribute to the emergence to a new type of Enterprise IT management in support to the digital transformation.

    BMC would like to consider how to provide OOTB implementation of the IT4IT outcomes, but also share some of its experience and vision of IT Management, with the involvement of many of its best architects when possible.

    Q: How has membership in The Open Group benefited you, your organization and the industry at large?

    Accelerate the innovation cycles, and the adoption of new type of Enterprise IT architecture and practice.

    Q: What contributions do you hope to bring to The Open Group?

    Provide feedback from our extended installed base of 17.500 customers around the world, about IT4IT and how it could help on their digital agenda. On a practice point of view, BMC could assist on the development of standards on DevOps, SecOps, Big Data, Digital Workplace, and Multi-source Cloud.

    Q: Why is it important for other organizations to join The Open Group?

    Joining The Open Group shall help to faster rally many employees on a crucial practice for the digital transformation: Enterprise IT Management.

    Q: What are your hobbies?

    Ultra trails (80km+ running races in the mountains and deserts) and mountaineering (on my way to the 7 Summits)

    Q: What book are you currently reading?

    Mishima’s tetralogy as I love Japanese literature.

    Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter of course…

    Q: Any last thoughts?

    As the Business is technology, we shall have some workgroup considering the specifics of the digital leading vertical industry.

    Eric Blum is Vice-President, Chief Technology Officer and has been with BMC since 2003. Thanks to his previous tenure as the BMC EMEA Services VP, he has a particular emphasis on large digital transformational and innovative programs across international organizations, involving multi-sourcing / Cloud strategy. Eric is engaged on delivering breakthrough Service Management platforms, with a user-centric focus, and Internet of Things scope, to enable new corporate business models. With his background, Eric is collaborating with a number of CIO / CTO’s, contributing to visioning, planning, and benchmarking activities. Prior to BMC, Eric held different management positions at SAP, Informix, and Infor ( SSA).

    He also likes to share his passion for Ultra-trails and other outdoor adventures as part of his own transformation journey.
